3 Ways to Avoid The Cold & Flu Season

Can you believe that it has been 2 years since I’ve had a cold or the flu? I have friends all around me that are getting sick (including my husband) and yet I still make it throughwater 3 Ways to Avoid The Cold & Flu Season the seasons with my health intact. What have I been doing to keep this streak alive for so long?

3 Ways to Avoid The Cold & Flu Season

Drink More Water – It’s amazing how much water that our bodies really need which is so much more than the typical 8 glasses a day. That is a great start but we need a large intake of water to flush out all of the toxins and impurities out of our system. My goal is to drink 100 oz of water every day.

Consistent Exercise I have been working out 6 days a week for 15 minutes / day. As you can tell from my About Me page, it was vital for me to find the most effective, efficient workout regime with my exercise 225x300 3 Ways to Avoid The Cold & Flu Seasonsuper busy lifestyle.

Multi-Vitamins Although I try my best to eat nutritious food, there are times when I don’t do well with my eating plan. That is why I’m so grateful for Prograde Women’s Vitamins which provide Whole Food based nutrition (not synthetic) to keep your body’s system running like a well-oiled, fat burning machine.

So what are some other ways that you’ve been keeping yourself healthy despite so many cases of swine flu? It is music to my ears each time that my kids ask me, “Mom, is this food healthy for me?” or “Should I eat this, Mom? I’m not sure if it is healthy for me.”

I believe that it is so awesome that an 8 year old and a 4 year old are asking about their health and making mental notes as they go about their lives. My hope is that my answers will stay with them for the rest of their healthy lives as well. Make it your goal to avoid the cold and flu season this year and so many more years to come. I hope to keep my streak alive to infinity and beyond!

My Fitness Challenge Update Week 8 of 12!

February 27, 2009 by nctrower
Filed under Fitness Challenge, Jumpstart Your Metabolism

It’s hard to believe that I only have 4 weeks left of my fitness challenge! I am already looking forward to the next 12 week challenge. The progressive workouts are kicking my butt..but in a good way. I’m so pumped to see my muscle definition coming back in my arms.

I have had no problem losing inches, (YAY!) but I’ve noticed that I’m still not eating enough daily to continue losing the pounds. I’ve been slacking lately on my meal planning. I’ve got 4 weeks to get back on track with that.

Quick Mom Workouts has a great nutritional online planner that I have access to for 1 year which is a great benefit of the challenge. It tells you which nutritional elements that you are lacking and what foods that you can add to your diet to meet those needs. It’s been a great tool for me to stay on track.

Here are my latest stats for the past month:

I am 5′10″ tall and during the challenge I’ve fluctuated between 188 and 186 lbs but I was 198 pounds before the challenge. I’ve been losing inches like crazy though which is awesome!! I’ve lost 1 dress size from a size 14 to a size 12.

Lost 1 inch in both arms
Lost 1 inch in both thighs
Lost 1 inch in my hips
Lost 1 inch in my waist
Lost 1 inch from my belly

For an awesome total loss of 7 inches! My pants are falling off and I’m loving it! I don’t know if I’m brave enough to post my before and after pics here on my blog so send me some encouraging comments that will build up my courage for the next 4 weeks! I’m off to do a workout…

How to Lose Belly Fat

How to Lose Belly Fat has been a hot topic and many people are doing searches on the net to find the best way to reach this goal. Of course most people want the quick fix by using lotions and potions. However, the best way to lose belly fat is by working your core, engaging in short burst exercises and and eating nutritional meals every 3-4 hours.

I’ve been amazed at the amount of calories that I need to consume every day to jump start my metabolism and lose weight! For my height, weight, build and activity level, I have to eat between 1800 and 2200 calories a day! Here is a formula for you to figure out your daily calorie intake requirements.  calorie_calculator1 Most people believe they have to starve themselves to lose weight but the exact opposite is true.

How to lose belly fat is so prevalent for women as our children leave us wounded with extra belly flab. Here are the culprits that are to blame for my flab.

Jayden, 7 yr old as The Black Elvis and Nelia, 3.5 yr old who can’t wait to be a USC cheerleader (little does she know she has to major in engineering like her mama!) They are cute so I guess I’ll keep them. They are constantly asking me why I’m doing so many exercises. I honestly tell them that they created all my fat! :)

My goal is to be a fit yummy mummy with this Quick Mom Workout plan. Most women complain that they don’t have enough time to exercise. Well this plan doesn’t allow you to use that excuse. There are 2 options for the busy mom. You can work out for 15 mins/day for 6 days or 30 mins every 3 days. The specific exercises in this plan are geared for all of the common mommy trouble spots from belly fat, muffin tops, flabby arms, thunder thighs and large hips.

You don’t have to be a mom to see results but most moms gravitate to this site due to the effectiveness in a short amount of time. It’s also more motivating to know that you don’t have to spend 1.5 to 2 hours in the gym. I do all of my workouts in the comfort of my own home. I also enjoy the savings of a gym membership.

There is a very similar program with the same concept for men called Turbulence Training. Men, you don’t have to feel left out in the cold. In fact, both programs have some of the same exact exercises. Make 2009 your year to lose your belly fat! Stay tuned for my before and after pics in 12 weeks….
